With silver bells and cockle shells.....

Ok so we don't really have silver bells and cockle shells in our garden (not actually sure what a cockle is hmmmm), but it is certainly growing, which is very exciting cause I've never gardened before. Jaden's favourite job is snail patrol, I hate squishing them but he takes great delight in it! The picture above is of some of our 'festival of flowers'. We have 2 pots of these and there's quite a lot of different types of leaves poking up, can't wait to see what flowers appear.

The pic below is our lettuce starting to grow beautifully (the row behind isn't doing so well cause it seems to be too close to other plants and therefore too shaded, never mind)
This is our parsley. When it first started growing the leaves didn't look like parsley, but they are changing shape now. The carrot leaves did that too, it's these small things that fascinate me!!

This is our zucchini. I have learnt since planting them that they spread so they probably need more room, but apparently you can try and divert them in a set direction so I'll have to try and do that if they take over the garden!

This is our lovely corn (so looking forward to when we actually get some corn, I LOVE fresh corn!)

These are my sunflowers (my fave flower). We started with 3 little seedlings but forgot the snail bait the first night and one got munched on and didn't survive, we are now very vigilant about the snails!!!

This is the pumpkin. This garden bed is around the side of the house near our compost bin and we put it there so the pumkin can jump the garden and go for it's life (as pumpkin does) and it doesn't matter round there.

We have other herbs and flowers growing too, and carrots which seem to be doing well. The capsicum and tomatoes are just starting to really get growing now. The only thing we tried that didn't work was the strawberries, they never sprouted :-( But we actually don't have any room left anyway so it doesn't matter. We'll try strawberrries again next year and maybe go from seedlings instead of seeds. It's all trial and error at the moment, which is what learning is all about, but I get a big kick at looking at these plants that started out as tiny seeds in a yoghurt pot and thinking wow how amazing is that, how could anyone ever doubt there's a clever creator behind this stuff ????? :-)

Fresh vegetables - you can't beat them, and they have all of the nutrients that you won't find in store bought ones, as they are picked too green.

You can read about the beneficial effects of vegetables and fruits on my blog at:

Enjoy your gardening and the fruits of your labour.

Blessings,
